Meet the 7 Muscles Causing Your AB Pain

Updated: Jan 8, 2023

Why you need an Abdominal Massage?

AB Massage physically releases deep tension and refreshing the blood flow to muscles and organs for adults, children, and infants.

Have you ever felt a “knot in your stomach” ? Many people hold stress in the abdominal region causing chronic tensing of the muscles that impair blood flow and lymphatic drainage into & out of the abdominopelvic cavity, and can hinder deep breathing causing lack of normal motion of internal organs hindering the excursion or movement downward and coordination of the respiratory and pelvic (levator ani) diaphragms. Normally the two diaphragms work in concert, moving together up and down as we breathe to “massage” the internal organs which facilitate normal organ physiology and processes for optimal digestion. When the abdomino-pelvic region is incorrectly aligned, the normal flow of blood and lymph are constricted and can disrupt nerve connection. The circulation of blood to the uterus, ovaries, bladder, and bowel is blocked.

Benefits of AB/Pelvic Massage:

  • Improved digestion, improved organ function,

  • Improved fertility

  • Decreased bloating & restored bowel motility

  • Decreased abdomino-pelvic pain

  • Release of tight scar tissue

  • Improved blood flow

  • Improved total energy,

  • Improved activation/strength of core muscles

  • Improved bowel/bladder and sexual function.

Abdominal massage can be used to treat :

  • Gastrointestinal issues such as constipation, belching, and bloating, stomach pain,

SORE AFTER A MASSAGE? HERE’S WHY

Right after your massage therapy, you will likely feel more relaxed and rested than when you came in. The day after your therapy, you may feel a bit sore. This is actually a normal occurrence for many types of this therapy. During a Therapeutic Massage I utilize cross-fiber friction, trigger point therapy, and myofascial release to "work out " the knots in your muscles. Massage it comparable to a strenuous workout, after which your muscles may be sore. Another factor that can cause soreness after this therapy is dehydration. If your muscles are not hydrated enough to be pliable, they will be sore the next day. That's why we recommended being hydrated for your appointment & to drink half your weight in ounces of water after your session.
